When you power on your recteq, a few things happen to start a live fire in your grill. Three different components will activate to provide ignition, fuel and oxygen to the fire.
Initially the Auger will run for 30-50 seconds, depending on the model. This provides fuel to start the fire. The Auger DOES NOT run continuously. The PID controller activates the Auger only as more fuel is needed. Too many pellets at one time may suffocate the fire.
The Blower Fan will begin to run immediately upon powering on the grill. The Blower Fan provides oxygen to the fire through the air-holes in the Fire Pot. Depending on how much oxygen is required, the Blower Fan may blow continuously, or it may pulse. Pulsing is completely normal.
The Ceramic Igniter at the bottom of the Fire Pot will begin to heat up as the grill is powered on. It will get hot enough to ignite the pellets. Once a fire is started, the igniter shuts off. It will not ignite again, unless the fire is somehow extinguished. This is rare as the PID controller is equipped with an algorithm that helps prevent flame outs.
Give the grill 20-25 minutes to achieve your desired temperature.
ALWAYS START YOUR GRILL WITH THE LID CLOSED AND ALL INTERNAL COMPONENTS IN PLACE.
